Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the Wuben B1. In summary, this is what cyclists think. Published Sep 30, 2024 by Rachel Rushing.

7 reasons to buy

  • Experts appreciate the wide beam spread for trail riding at night.
  • The light rotates horizontally, allowing users to change the beam direction.
  • Battery life in the low (200 lumens) and medium (1,000 lumens) settings is good, say testers.
  • Experts find the handlebar mount stays securely in place over bumpy terrain.
  • Reviewers say the wireless remote is easy to use even when wearing thick gloves.
  • The B1 meets the ANSI FL1 standard, meaning it’s resistant to being dropped from a height of 3.3 feet.
  • A buyer says the flashing mode offers good daytime visibility on roads.

5 reasons not to buy

  • The B1 quickly overheats in turbo mode and automatically drops to just 25 lumens in order to cool down.
  • The B1's lack of beam cut-off can blind other road users.
  • Wuben’s vague terminology leads to confusion about battery life in turbo and high modes.
  • Wuben doesn’t specify a handlebar diameter range for the mount. A tester says it’s too big for 26mm bars.
  • An expert bemoans the slow six-hour charge time.

Bottom line

The Wuben B1 is a front light for off-road riding with five modes and a wireless remote. Wuben doesn’t provide clear information on handlebar fit and runtimes. The B1 earns praise for its wide beam spread, wireless remote, and solid runtimes in low and medium modes. However, the claimed 3600-lumen output is inaccurate, as the light quickly overheats and drops brightness in response. Other problems include slow charging times and a lack of beam cut-off, which makes this light a poor choice for road riding. Nonetheless, experts and owners like the B1 and consider it a good option for trail riding at night.

Wuben B1 Review | High Beams for Your Bike

The B1 is Wuben’s first dedicated bike light, and it performs surprisingly well. It generates a standard beam without a cut-off, so it’s best suited for forests, dirt roads, mountain biking, and other places without traffic to blind.
