  • Reviewers appreciate the ability to customize the power input of the 500 Series’ assist levels.
  • The step-through version of the 500 Series ensures easy mounting, dismounting, stopping and starts, for shorter, older and less-flexible e-cyclists.
  • Boffins are satisfied with the range offered by the 500 Series’ 48 V 13 Ah battery.
  • Tektro Aries mechanical disc brakes halt riders with great vigor and reassurance.
  • The 500’s Suntour XCT 100mm suspension fork pleases testers by soaking up chatter on uneven pavement and placid dirt roads.

4 reasons not to buy

  • A tester of a 500 Series with a 500 W motor, says assist is, “slower engaging than we would have liked”.
  • The 500 Series has an integrated Buchel 50-lux headlight, but no tail-light is included.
  • Reviewers point out that, unlike other Ride1Up models, the 500 Series’ battery protrudes angularly from the bike’s frame.
  • Some users noted damage on arrival, on their Ride1Up 500 Series.

Bottom line

The 500 Series is a versatile and affordable urban e-bike, available in both step-through and step-over frames. It is equipped with a Reention 48 V 13 Ah battery and 100 mm-travel Suntour suspension fork, to iron-out urban imperfections. Pedal assist levels can be set from 3 to 9, with customizable power input. Testers stress the 500 Series is not an off-road option. Most reviews are for the 500 W-motor 500 Series. Ride1Up now specifies the motor as 750 W.

Ride1Up 500 Series Review, 2022

A solid, affordable, and versatile comfort commuter e-bike. Everyone, no matter their background, liked the 500 Series’ mellow yet satisfyingly torquey 500W motor. Overall, it’s a lot of bike for the money.

Ride1Up 500 Series 2021 Review

I fell in love with it. It offers a lot for the money. It’s a good, solid bike. It’s a fast bike, if you want it to be. You can choose between 3, 5, 7, or 9 levels of pedal assist. I can’t stress how useful this is.

Ride1Up 500 Series Review (Step-Through) | a Lot for a Little

There is a pretty strong case for spending $___ more for the 500 Series compared to the Core-5. You get front suspension, larger battery. Minor improvements: pedals, brake levers, gel seat, adjustable stem, improved shifter, 8 speeds.

Ride1Up 500 Series Review

The 500 Series is Ride1Up’s most popular model because it offers good quality at a relatively low price. More steps to assemble because the fork and stem are not attached. Approachable, with a lower standover height.

Ride1Up 500 Series E-Bike Review: Could This Be the Best Bang for Your Buck?

The Ride1Up 500 Series is a great option for a modestly-priced commuter or recreational e-bike intended mostly for road use. Even though the pedal assist works decently well, I still found myself throttling most of the time.

Ride1Up 500 Series E-Bike – Fast, Dependable, Great Value

They give you 9 levels of assist. It’s nice to have a level of assist that definitely jumps up in increments, because a lot of people don’t want the power of the motor to do all the work.

E-Bike Review Ride1Up 500 XR Hills and Trails

Very pleased with the performance and look forward to longer rides. 64 years old, still cranking along, but this is a good way to loosen up the legs, gonna have a little power assist. Keep the heart rate down.

Reviewing Ride1Up’s 500 Commuter E-Bike

Pedal assist was really smooth, regardless of going uphill or not. I was able to get up to 28 to 29 miles per hour, just as Ride1Up’s website states, so I was pumped about that.

It’s not light, but it’s also not the heaviest in the category either and is easy enough to manage up small flights of stairs and load into an SUV or rack.
