12 reasons not to buy

  • The RadRover 6 Step-Thru weighs 3.1lbs more than RadRover 5.
  • The RadRover 6 Step-Thru’s 60mm suspension fork offers 40mm less travel than the 100mm fork on the RadRover 5.

Bottom line

On the RadRover Step-Thru Class 2 electric fatbike, a 750-watt hub-driven motor offers 15% more torque than that of the RadRover 5. In addition, it comes saddled with ridonkulously phat 4” tires, which do slow it down some up steep hills. By way of upgrades, the RadRover 6 Step-Thru is specced with hydraulic brakes by Nutt, who are a new and relatively unknown brand. Testers said that the Step-Thru version is less stiff and smaller than the standard RadRover. An independent throttle delivers a surge of power that saps the battery swiftly but to a point that makes little impact on short-to-medium distance rides. Under real-world tests, one reviewer achieved max ranges anywhere from 28.47 miles in PAS level 5 to 50.49 miles in PAS 1. The RadRover 6 Step-Thru is available in one frame size, recommended for riders 5’2″ to 6’2″ in height.

Rad Power Bikes RadRover 6 Plus Full Review – The RadRover Fat Tire Ebike Just Got Better

A more powerful fat-tire e-bike can be purchased for the same price. I don’t fault those people for wanting the highest-output motor with the largest battery at the best price, but… Rad Power Bikes is the largest seller of e-bikes in North America and potential customers should take comfort in that.

America’s New #1 Selling Ebike? The All-New Radrover 6 Plus

The 6 Plus probably isn’t the kind of bike that’s going to make existing Rad Rover owners want to upgrade but if you’re in the market for your first fat-tire Rad e-bike, I think its upgrades make a compelling case for the $███ premium over the RadRover 5.

Radrover 6 Plus Trail Test! ($█k Electric Mountain Bike)

This needs a better fork to keep from getting bounced all around and grippier tires to keep from sliding off the sides of the rocks. I did it but that was a lot scarier than it needed to be.

RadRover 6 Plus Hill Climb, Drag Races and First Impressions

The lowest I saw was 11mph throttle-only, up this very steep hill… keep in mind how heavy this electric bike is. The fat-tire bikes are also a little less efficient… This new 750-watt motor from Rad is plenty capable on hills. Perhaps if you lived in the mountains maybe you’d want something a little more powerful but then you’d be looking at mid-drive bikes anyway.

RadRover 6 Plus Electric Bike Review: Spicing Up Your Daily Commute

At the end of the day, it’s hard to call the added weight a flaw. There’s no doubt in my mind it helped me barrel through some of the debris littering the bike lanes in my city… Much of that 73.4 lbs is courtesy of the giant battery pack and electronics on the RadRover 6 Plus, and it’s a small price to pay for such reliable performance and power.
