The RadCity 5 Plus Step-Thru is Rad Power’s newest version of their RadCity Step-Thru electric commuter-hybrid bike. This time around, it sports 27.5” wheels (upgraded from 26”) for better rolling resistance. An updated and retuned 750W motor remains hub-driven but puts out more torque to climb hills with more grunt. A claimed 55 miles can be milked from the bike’s 48V 14Ah battery. For the new-look RadCity 5 Plus Step-Thru, the battery is partially recessed into the bike’s downtube. Front suspension travel is reduced from 100mm to 60mm, making drop-offs harder but reducing ride sponginess. The RadCity 5 Plus Step-Thru is sold in a single frame size but has an adjustable stem which helps to accommodate riders between a claimed height range of 4’8” to 6’0”.

The RadCity 5 Plus flew me up some super steep hills with an ease that surprised me… we don’t have quite the same amount of suspension as we used to have. Everything else about the bike is either pretty much the same or slightly better.
