BikeRide finds and shows you the best prices of the bikes you want to buy. Prices constantly change and it’s impossible to compare them all yourself.

We search for prices on over 120 bike retailers to guarantee that we find the lowest prices – to save you time and money.

It’s a promise we stand behind: If you find a lower price on a bike elsewhere, we will sell it to you for 10% less. For example, if you find a bike for $480 that we have listed at $500, we will offer you to buy it for $432 through BikeRide. The bike must be the same color and size, sold in the US and not include the use of a coupon.

If you find a lower price, email us at [email protected] with documentation of the price. We’re committed to making sure that the cost of a bike does not keep you from cycling!

Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the Pinarello Dogma XC. In summary, this is what cyclists think.

11 reasons to buy

  • The Dogma XC is winning at the highest levels of UCI World and Olympics competition.
  • Reviewers say the Dogma XC rockets up climbs thanks to its short chainstays, highly responsive pedaling, and progressive, short-travel suspension.
  • The XC comes in two builds: the “eye-wateringly expensive” Dogma XC and the substantially cheaper Pinarello XC.
  • An expert lauds the Dogma XC’s premium race spec that includes FOX 32 Factory suspension, SRAM XX SL Eagle drivetrain, and Shimano XTR brakes.
  • The highly efficient power transmission wows reviewers.
  • A 120mm fork and 100mm shock can be used without upsetting the suspension kinematics.
  • The split rear triangles have no bridge, creating room for tires up to 2.4” and reducing mud build-up.
  • The short rear end, steep head angle, and low, forward riding position provide fast, direct steering.
  • Both builds have wireless shifting, but the frame supports mechanical gearing.
  • The main triangle has room for two water bottles.
  • The XC comes in four sizes, all with size-specific geometry.

9 reasons not to buy

  • Pinarello’s warranty lasts just two years. Registration adds three more years, but some competitors provide lifetime frame warranties.
  • The XC’s no-compromises approach to speed means it only suits highly skilled racers.
  • A reviewer is disappointed that a bike this expensive has no power meter.
  • Non-removable internal blocks limit the steering range to 60°. Though this protects the frame, experts say it hinders maneuverability in tight switchbacks.
  • The road-style riding position, steep head angle, short chainstays, and extremely progressive 90mm shock make the XC nervous and hard work in tech sections and on descents, say reviewers.
  • Testers note the suspension’s lack of sensitivity, suppleness, and travel, one lamenting the under-leveraged, over-progressive shock.
  • An expert bemoans the messy cockpit controls.
  • The stiff suspension and short rear end reduce traction in tight corners and on descents.
  • Though one expert says the XC is comfortable for marathon epics, most agree this bike’s unforgiving nature and aggressive riding position are tiring and unsuited to longer races.

Bottom line

Pinarello's XC is a full-sus XCO "weapon" designed solely to win World Championships. The aggressive geometry, stiff and reactive frame, and very progressive, short-travel suspension are ideal for light, high-power elite racers, but this extremely focused package is ill-suited to anyone else. Though the pedaling responsiveness, climbing ability, and nimble handling impress, reviewers find that the bike's sheer speed and uncompromising design make tech sections very challenging and descents a harrowing experience. The cheaper build isn't reviewed. The Dogma XC is perfect for the best XCO racers. Other riders will likely prefer the more affordable and forgiving Specialized Epic 8.

Overall, the Dogma XC is an impressive return to mountain biking. For a brand not known for its off-road bikes, Pinarello’s clearly done the work to make this worthy of Pidcock and Ferrand-Prevot.

[Test] Pinarello Dogma XC [Italian]

The Dogma XC is a cross-country bike conceived, designed, and produced as the ultimate expression of MTB racing. Responsiveness, lightness, and handling make the difference in classic XC races. For long marathon courses, it is a challenging bike and maybe too tiring on descents.
