Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the Mokwheel Mesa Plus ST. In summary, this is what cyclists think.

8 reasons to buy

  • The Mesa Plus ST comes in two frame sizes to fit riders from 5’4” to 6’4”, according to Mokwheel.
  • A tester enjoys the Mesa Plus ST’s impressive hill-climbing ability.
  • The low step-through frame is easy to mount.
  • The handlebars are height and reach adjustable, allowing for a range of rider sizes and riding positions.
  • This bike comes with fenders, lights, a horn, and a kickstand.
  • Mokwheel includes a pump and most of the tools needed for assembly.
  • The 660mm wide handlebar provides good control and stability, according to a reviewer.
  • The Mesa Plus ST has a 350lb payload capacity.

8 reasons not to buy

  • One reviewer’s bike suffers numerous problems out of the box, including a broken motor, rust on the rack and seatpost clamp, paint damage caused by poor packaging, and ill-fitting fenders.
  • According to a tester, Mokwheel says it’s “normal” for oil to leak from the fork. This is not normal.
  • A tester gets the bike to 31mph using pedal assist. This exceeds the Class 3 speed limit and could be illegal.
  • Mechanical disc brakes are a bad joke on a bike that weighs 71 pounds and can exceed 28mph. A reviewer says braking requires a lot of effort at the levers.
  • As one expert highlights, the electrical wiring and cables run under the bottom bracket without protection, leaving them highly vulnerable to knocks.
  • Mokwheel suffers from dismal owner feedback, with complaints about poor customer support and faulty products.
  • The Mesa Plus ST has a cargo rack, but Mokwheel doesn’t say how much weight it can carry.
  • While riding off-road, a reviewer’s handlebar comes loose despite the clamp having been fully tightened.

Bottom line

Mokwheel's Mesa Plus ST is an electric fat bike with a step-through frame, 750W motor, and 768Wh battery. Experts appreciate the accessible frame, good hill-climbing power, and impressive turn of speed. However, the mechanical brakes are underpowered, the fork is clunky, and the off-road ability is poor. Worst of all, one reviewer's test bike demonstrates why Mokwheel has a poor reputation for quality control and customer support. It has a broken motor, rust in several areas, a leaking fork, and shipping damage to the frame. There is little to recommend the Mokwheel Mesa Plus ST. Shoppers should look elsewhere.

Mokwheel Mesa ST Plus E-Bike Review – Unbox/Setup/Ride Test

This is one of the kind of higher end Mokwheels and you would think… getting more of a quality premium product, but it just looks like they need more quality control. It’s a cool-looking bike, but it needs work.
