11 reasons to buy

  • Testers say Magnum's Peak 2.0 rides comfortably over bumpy pavement and light off-road terrain.
  • The CST Patrol 2.8” tires provide good grip over loose surfaces, according to a reviewer.
  • Users can select cadence or torque sensing, and choose between Classes 1, 2, 3, and European mode via the display.
  • Testers praise the responsive, natural-feeling pedal assist in torque-sensing mode.
  • A 180lb reviewer gets 34.2 miles of range on a paved route using max assist in Class 2, torque-sensing mode.
  • In testing, the Tektro hydraulic disc brakes deliver strong stopping power.
  • A reviewer enjoys the quick throttle acceleration.
  • This bike comes with a headlight, fenders, and mounting points for a rear rack, front rack, and bottle cage.
  • The microSHIFT Advent derailleur has a clutch, reducing chain slap over bumpy surfaces.
  • Experts love the top-tube-integrated display.
  • The bike has a hidden space in the bell for an Apple AirTag.

7 reasons not to buy

  • Magnum markets the Peak 2.0 as a mountain bike, but both testers agree it isn’t suited for proper MTB trails.
  • At 66lb, the Peak 2.0 is heavy, especially given it's MTB marketing.
  • The saddle height only has 7.5" of adjustment, so the stated 5’4” to 6’4” height range is exaggerated.
  • One tester complains of heel strikes against the kickstand.
  • In a standardized hill test by one publication, the Peak 2.0 climbs more slowly than most of the comparison bikes.
  • This bike doesn’t come with a rear light.
  • The below-average 2A charger returns a lengthy charge time of 7.5 hours.

Bottom line

Magnum describes its Peak 2.0 as a mountain bike, but it's really an electric hybrid. Testers agree it's not capable enough for true MTB trails. Nonetheless, they find it capable on light off-road terrain, with smooth pedal assist, reliable brakes, solid range, and quick throttle acceleration. Reviewers also appreciate the sleek display and switchable PAS sensors. Weak climbing ability, heel strikes, and limited sizing count against this bike. Testing is limited, but experts consider the Magnum Peak 2.0 a bargain in the hybrid e-bike segment.

Magnum Peak 2.0 Review | For the Active SUV Life

The bike has some limits to its off-roading, but if kept with “leisurely off-roading” in mind, it’s easy to focus on its good traits more than its limits: it’s a fun, active-feeling bike you want to pedal and head further down on the beaten path with.

Magnum Peak 2.0 Review – The Quiet Contender

… if you’ve been looking for that “unicorn” e-bike that will let you commute all week and then explore gravel backroads or the occasional beginner MTB trail, the Magnum Peak 2.0 is certainly worth a look. It fills that gap nicely and, at [this price], does so at a very approachable price in today’s inflated market.
