Summary of Reviews
We have read all expert and user reviews on the Giordano Rapido. In summary, this is what cyclists think.
9 reasons to buy
- The Rapido is sold for an absolutely bargain-basement price. Some buyers regarded it as good value.
- Several reports describe a solid and sturdy bike, a heavy-duty beast that’s ‘built for street abuse’.
- A few folk said this jade delivered a smooth ride.
- At least one owner felt that the saddle was comfortable.
- Assembly was easy and ‘muy rapido’ for a decent portion of consumers.
- The 32c Kenda tires were adequate for street use.
- Fixie fanatics will find this philly furnished with a flip-flop hub.
- A majority of owners were pleased to find that the Rapido’s decals were easy to remove. Once they did so, several of them said it was a handsome steed.
- The Rapido revealed stupendous handling capabilities to some owners.
13 reasons not to buy
- Toeverlap was an issue. The aggressive fixed-gear geometry was unexpected for some owners, who couldn’t tolerate the turning wheel’s proximity to their toes.
- Handling was described as not being responsive.
- The weight of this plug was a frequent complaint. It was deemed heavier than average, largely due to a a steel seatpost, bars and other components.
- No-name brakes delivered often unremarkable / sometimes undetectable stopping-power. They were difficult to adjust and many owners chose to replace pads immediately.
- Handlebars loosened themselves, requiring sanding to increase friction.
- Cranks were weak and exhibited excess flex. Failure was common from 2 days to 2 months use.
- Decals were numerous, ‘ugly’ and sometimes arrived peeling.
- Damage on new models included a bent fork, a broken brake and damaged bottom bracket.
- The bike infrequently lacked lubrication and the rear hub needed to be opened and repacked with grease.
- Owners remarked on the saddle’s ability to be simultaneously squishy and painful. A few buyers pointed out that the seatpost is a 27.2mm diameter - and not 25.4, as advertised.
- Riders decried the thin, hard grip-tape which was painful on longer rides.
- The Rapido is offered in one size, which is represented online with differing measurements.
- When riding fixed, the lockring and cog sheared off (twice for one owner, threatening safety), and was unable to be repaired by a local bike shop.
Bottom line
Maybe this bike earned its name from the hasty decision-making process required to make the purchase. Most high-level ratings for the bike came from eager customization hobbyists, who were happy to swap out many or most of the sub-par components. That said, those that chose to do this were sometimes still riding their bike after two years of regular use. Many buyers were somehow surprised that the drop-bars necessitate a bent-over ‘racing’ position when riding. To some, it was uncomfortable. A fair number of owners suggested that equal value would be gained from spending a bit more money to acquire a better quality bike. I’ll leave you with the words of one consumer-reviewer, “This is a cheap bicycle and it shows. I have buyer's remorse.“Expert Reviews
