We search for prices on over 120 bike retailers to guarantee that we find the lowest prices – to save you time and money.

It’s a promise we stand behind: If you find a lower price on a bike elsewhere, we will sell it to you for 10% less. For example, if you find a bike for $480 that we have listed at $500, we will offer you to buy it for $432 through BikeRide. The bike must be the same color and size, sold in the US and not include the use of a coupon.

If you find a lower price, email us at [email protected] with documentation of the price. We’re committed to making sure that the cost of a bike does not keep you from cycling!

Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the Specialized Stumpjumper 15. In summary, this is what cyclists think.

15 reasons to buy

  • The Stumpjumper 15 is available in nine builds: three alloy and six carbon, three of which have coil shocks.
  • Experts relish the playful and snappy handling on tight, technical singletrack.
  • All non-coil builds except the entry-level Stumpjumper 15 Alloy have FOX's two-stage air spring Genie shock, which experts find plush, responsive, and easily adjustable.
  • The Genie rear shock and sticky tires help maintain traction on rooty and technical descents and stay planted on climbs, according to testers.
  • Experts say the Genie shock uses its travel so effectively that it feels longer than 145mm, which opens up more aggressive enduro-style descents.
  • The Stumpjumper 15’s composure through the roughest trails impresses expert testers of both the alloy and carbon builds.
  • One tester praises the Stumpjumper Comp Alloy for having comparable ride characteristics to the Pro carbon.
  • Testers say the central seated position and low-slung bottom bracket provide excellent handling in corners.
  • Reviewers appreciate the confidence-inspiring stability afforded by the slack front end and balanced geometry.
  • The Pro (30.84lb) and standard S-Works (29.89lb) builds are lighter than competing top-end trail bikes.
  • The Stumpjumper 15's "dialed-in" geometry makes it comfortable for all-day rides.
  • All frames have internal down tube storage with included tools. A bottle cage mounts to the compartment door.
  • The Stumpjumper 15 frame accepts long-travel dropper posts of up to 213mm in the largest sizes (S5 and S6).
  • The frame allows easy geometry adjustments through switchable headset cups, a chainstay flip chip, and reversible shock mounts.
  • Specialized provides a lifetime warranty on its frames and suspension pivot bearings.

5 reasons not to buy

  • Several testers feel the GRID TRAIL tire casing is too thin for this bike. Only the rear tires of the coil shock builds have GRID GRAVITY downhill casing.
  • Owners of medium to large frames (S3-S6) must buy an additional link to mullet the bike. The Stumpjumper 15 Alloy, Öhlins Coil, and S1 and S2 frames on all other builds come standard with mixed wheels.
  • A reviewer says the Industry Nine hub end caps (Stumpjumper 15 Pro) fall out easily when removing the wheels.
  • A tester of the Stumpjumper Pro feels the 32t chainring is limiting on the steepest climbs, preferring 30t.
  • Testers say the bottom bracket height of 337mm (330mm with the flip-chip set to Low) results in limited pedal clearance on chunky ascents.

Bottom line

The Specialized Stumpjumper 15 is a full-suspension trail mountain bike available in six carbon and three alloy builds. This legendary bike is famed as a benchmark in the industry, and the latest iteration maintains that reputation. The bike's composure on rough descents, excellent cornering, and playful, snappy handling on technical singletrack impress experts. The balanced geometry, FOX's Genie rear shock, and easily adjustable geo also earn praise. Complaints highlight the thin tire casing, high gearing, and low BB height. Overall, experts agree the Stumpjumper 15 is among the greatest trail bikes in production, with the alloy builds offering compelling performance at affordable prices.

It packs all the geometry adjust versatility and internal storage practicality of the previous two bikes. It then wraps the whole performance envelopes of what were two very different vibing machines into one shock.
