BikeRide finds and shows you the best prices of the bikes you want to buy. Prices constantly change and it’s impossible to compare them all yourself.

We search for prices on over 120 bike retailers to guarantee that we find the lowest prices – to save you time and money.

It’s a promise we stand behind: If you find a lower price on a bike elsewhere, we will sell it to you for 10% less. For example, if you find a bike for $480 that we have listed at $500, we will offer you to buy it for $432 through BikeRide. The bike must be the same color and size, sold in the US and not include the use of a coupon.

If you find a lower price, email us at [email protected] with documentation of the price. We’re committed to making sure that the cost of a bike does not keep you from cycling!

Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the Salsa Moraine. In summary, this is what cyclists think.

11 reasons to buy

  • This bike comes in two Shimano-equipped builds: Deore 12-speed and CUES 10-speed.
  • According to a reviewer, the geometry, beefy tires, and long travel (160mm front, 145mm rear) help make “hard-charging” descents feel easy.
  • An expert appreciates the stability afforded by the long wheelbase, though this comes at the expense of playfulness, they add.
  • The range in PAS 1 impresses a tester who covers 35 miles and has two bars remaining.
  • A reviewer says the Moraine hardly looks like an e-bike.
  • One expert finds the top tube control panel intuitive to use and read.
  • The Split Pivot+ suspension platform supports an unusual range of travel choices, allowing owners to run 140mm to 160mm forks and 125mm to 145mm shocks.
  • An expert says the Fazua drive system works flawlessly, highlighting the smooth power engagement.
  • The three power settings are customizable via Fazua’s app.
  • The Moraine uses SRAM’s UDH.
  • The frame can run 27.5” wheels with the flip-chip in its high setting.

5 reasons not to buy

  • The size-small frame is rated for 5’2” to 5’7”, but a 5’5” tester is at the limit of the standover height.
  • An expert points out that the Moraine is heavy for an electric trail bike at this price point.
  • The Moraine is expensive for an aluminum-framed e-MTB.
  • Each build only comes in one color.
  • An expert reports pedal bob while climbing.

Bottom line

Salsa’s Moraine is an electric trail mountain bike with an aluminum frame and Fazua mid-drive system. It comes in two builds with different groupsets and suspension components. There is only one expert review. In it, the tester praises the Moraine’s composure on challenging descents, the smooth pedal assist, the stealthy design, and the ample range. Complaints include the size-small frame’s long reach and high standover height, pedal bob when climbing, and the lack of color choices and size-specific components. Further reviews may alter the overall picture, but the Moraine seems a solid trail e-MTB, though it's pricey and not for short riders.

Salsa Moraine Electric Mountain Bike Review

The Moraine is the first electric mountain bike that’s made me question if I’m missing out by not having one… The biggest (only?) bummer here is that it won’t fit smaller riders.
