How to Securely Fasten Zip Ties
Learn how to use a 4th hand cable puller tool to securely fasten a zip tie.

Today we’ll learn how to tighten zip-ties using a 4th hand cable puller tool. The 4th hand was designed to pull the cable tight when you adjust the cable tension on your brakes and derailleurs. It functions by gripping the cable, and then pulling it. While it works great for that job, did you know that you can also use it to securely fasten zip-ties?
I’ll demonstrate here by attaching a piece of cable housing to the frame. Wrap the zip-tie around the frame and cable and snug it up like you normally would. Then use the 4th hand tool to cinch it up a few more clicks. Be careful not to pull it too tight or the zip-tie will snap.
This gets it nice and tight and it looks a lot cleaner than other methods like electrical tape. Once you’re happy with it, snip the remaining section off.
You can get zip-ties in a variety of colors if you want to match your bike or get creative, and you can use different sizes for other jobs like attaching cycle computers, fender stays and so many other do-it-yourself projects! The 4th hand is hands-down one of my favorite tools. I highly recommend getting one for your own home repair kit!

Lastest post 1 day agoHi, I'm Steve. I have this bicycle(non-geared) that I haven't used for a decade. The frame seems intact so I'm thinking of renovating it, I have disassembled it. I don't know anything about these things. Tyres, pedals and saddle I understand(not entirely), but other than that, the handle, brakes, crank bars I don't. I'm hoping someone will help me out to put it together. Thanks. I've attached two...

Lastest post 2 months agoAs the title states, what feels like my pedal is creaking when Im on the downstroke on my left side. I say my pedal but based on what I have diagnosed so far I’m not sure if that’s it? I can feel the creak happening in my pedal though. Lastest post 2 months agoHi, everyone! I'd like to ask you about your opinion on whether or not this is just a deep scratch (scuff?) on the paint or a crack on the frame of my aluminium road bike (please see photos below). For context, the area shown on the photos would be the seat tube, right about where it is joined by the seat stays. I already did the "coin soundcheck" test to help me diagnose the problem but I'm still...

There is an Allen type of bolt that I can take off fairly easily, but inside there looks to be a spline type nut. Lastest post 2 months agoGood morning! I purchased a new mountain bike a few weeks ago and picked up a frame adapter so I could put it on my trunk rack. The problem is that the front wheel is really low. A hitch mount is in the future but for now I figured I would just remove the wheel. My question is whether I should pick up a disk spacer or could I just use a chunk of cardboard? Not traveling all that far but don't wan...
