Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the Cannondale Jekyll. In summary, this is what cyclists think. Updated Mar 24, 2026 by Reda Ashour.

14 reasons to buy

  • Testers praise the Jekyll's mix of playful handling with composure on steep descents.
  • Several experts highlight the Jekyll's "beautifully balanced" geometry and weight distribution.
  • The size-specific geometry ensures consistent handling across all sizes.
  • Experts say the low center of gravity aids in cornering and stability.
  • Testers appreciate the minimal pedal bob while ascending seated.
  • Experts say the ride is predictable, calm, and confidence-inspiring.
  • Reviewers find the Jekyll excels when ridden fast, and it carries speed well.
  • The suspension effectively takes the edge off large hits and small chatter.
  • Reviewers feel the suspension provides good traction while also remaining active.
  • The SRAM Code RSC brakes with 220mm/200mm rotors offer excellent stopping power in testing.
  • Testers find it easy to pop the Jekyll off the ground.
  • Experts are pleased with the fairly quiet high-pivot suspension design.
  • Reviewers say the idler pulley and guide eliminate pedal kickback.
  • In collaboration with Cannondale, Cascade Components offers a rear linkage to mullet the Jekyll.

10 reasons not to buy

  • The Jekyll 1's 35.5lb can feel sluggish in tight turns, on flats, and while climbing, according to testers.
  • An expert finds the high pivot’s lengthening wheelbase causes the rear wheel to hang up in slow, technical drops.
  • Testers criticize the WTB KOM Trail i30 rims for losing spoke tension, denting easily, and leaking air.
  • Experts feel the Maxxis EXO+ tire casing isn't tough enough for serious enduro riding.
  • The shock integration into the frame’s “Gravity Cavity” makes it hard to access and allows debris to rattle inside.
  • Testers find the FOX Float Factory X2 shock finicky to set up.
  • The 3mm-offset Asymmetric Integration proprietary rear wheel limits wheel swaps.
  • Reviewers are disappointed in the dropper seatpost’s short travel (S: 125mm, M-XL: 150mm) and “spongy” remote.
  • Reviewers say the internal cable routing is clunky and rattly.
  • The idler system requires extra maintenance and consistent cleaning.

Bottom line

The Jekyll is Cannondale’s carbon enduro mountain bike with 170mm front and 165mm rear travel, currently available in one mid-level build. Testers are impressed with how comfortable it is in most situations, but most of all on gnarly descents where the active suspension delivers abundant traction, and the handling balances agility and sure-footedness. The brakes and suspension are also praised, but Cannondale misses the mark with disappointing wheels and tires and a cheap dropper post. Reviewers are divided on the Jekyll’s overall value, but its stellar performance on enduro trails is commended.

Cannondale Jekyll 1 Review

Considering the price, it’d be great to see some better wheels, which could elevate its performance even further. Otherwise, the Jekyll feels well-balanced, incredibly capable and very composed.

Cannondale Jekyll Carbon 1 29 Mountain Bike Review

While we do really like the Jekyll overall, it’s not a perfect bike… That said, Cannondale has done a great job making the Jekyll a very worthy adversary to any gnarly trail it encounters.

Top quality mountain bikes are abundant in today’s marketplace, though few blend sleek design and rock-solid fundamental performance as naturally as the Jekyll. For riders seeking steeper than steep trails and sonic boom speeds, the Jekyll is an undeniable option.

Cannondale Jekyll 2022 Review

All in all, it’s an excellent bike with just the wheels that really let it down. I would definitely recommend this bike, if you don’t mind the faffing around setting it up.

Cannondale Jekyll 1 2022 Test: Pushed Enduro MTB [Italian Video]

Compared to other competitors, it is perhaps the most predictable and rideable right from the start, despite the geometry being clearly geared towards downhill. It’s a shame about the weight and pedaling, which aren’t excellent on this bike…
