7 reasons not to buy

  • With a seat height of 31.5”, riders in the lower half of the 4’2” to 5’9” height range may not fit.
  • Testers fail to reach the claimed 37mph top speed.
  • Experts find the power delivery is jerky, meaning controlling speed is difficult and the tires spin out easily.
  • A tester struggles to wheelie the Vela E5 because of the “weird” power curve.
  • The "touchy" throttle and high weight make the bike difficult to pick up when dropped.
  • A tester advises against riding technical terrain because of the jerky power delivery.
  • A reviewer is disappointed by the long eight-hour charge time.

Bottom line

The Qlife Vela E5 is a budget electric dirt bike marketed to kids and adults, but, in Qlife's words, it's "engineered to deliver a sudden burst of devastating acceleration with just a touch of the throttle," which is excessive for children. The Vela E5 can't reach the claimed top speed, but it's still fast, with strong torque that provides an exhilarating ride. Unfortunately, that strong power delivery also makes it difficult to control. Thankfully, the brakes prove reliable, and the suspension delivers for the price. From the limited expert testing available, the Vela E5 appears to be good value.

The “Budget” Electric Pit Bike! // Vela E5 Review

I would change… the torque levels, [the] actual battery removal process, and the charging time.

I Thought It Was a Joke Until This! Qlife Vela E5 Electric Motorcycle

The suspension blows me away with how good it is. It’s well damped. The power, there’s plenty of power there, maybe even too much power.
