BikeRide finds and shows you the best prices of the bikes you want to buy. Prices constantly change and it’s impossible to compare them all yourself.

We search for prices on over 120 bike retailers to guarantee that we find the lowest prices – to save you time and money.

It’s a promise we stand behind: If you find a lower price on a bike elsewhere, we will sell it to you for 10% less. For example, if you find a bike for $480 that we have listed at $500, we will offer you to buy it for $432 through BikeRide. The bike must be the same color and size, sold in the US and not include the use of a coupon.

If you find a lower price, email us at [email protected] with documentation of the price. We’re committed to making sure that the cost of a bike does not keep you from cycling!

Summary of Reviews

We have read all expert and user reviews on the Trek Domane Gen 4. In summary, this is what cyclists think.

16 reasons to buy

  • Trek's Domane Gen 4 comes in 2 SLR builds (800 series OCLV carbon, SRAM RED AXS) and 2 SL builds (500 series OCLV, Shimano drivetrains).
  • An expert savors the quick, balanced steering thanks to the relatively short wheelbase.
  • Testers say the IsoSpeed decoupler and relaxed geometry make riding in the drops more comfortable and long days in the saddle easy.
  • Experts praise the frame’s compliance, stiff wheels, and large tires for providing confidence in fast corners but not being upset by bumps.
  • One tester says the Domane handles as well on the road as the best road bikes.
  • An expert relishes the Domane’s climbing ability, thanks to its low weight, comfort, and power transfer.
  • The Domane Gen 4 comes in eight sizes (47-62cm), with size-specific crank arms, saddle, seatpost, stem, and handlebars.
  • This bike has internal downtube storage and mounts for a top tube bag, a rear rack, fenders, and three bottle cages.
  • The frame has clearance for 38mm tires, or 35mm with fenders.
  • Trek’s Project One program offers Domane SLR 9 AXS buyers custom build options like paint, wheelset, and bottom bracket.
  • The Blendr-compatible stem provides easy, integrated mounting of lights, computers, and other accessories.
  • A tester appreciates the SRAM RED rear derailleur’s clutch over bumpy terrain.
  • The SRAM RED’s 46/33t chainset and 10-36t cassette (SLR 9 AXS) provide ideal gearing for an endurance bike.
  • The Domane SLR builds have integrated SRAM power meters.
  • The lower-tier builds offer many of the same performance attributes as the pricier tiers.
  • The separate bar and stem and semi-integrated cockpit cables make adjustments and servicing easier.

6 reasons not to buy

  • Despite the SLR 9’s excellence, experts still wince at the price.
  • A reviewer laments how the IsoSpeed cover rubs their thigh.
  • SRAM’s chainring-integrated power meters mean replacement chainrings are extremely expensive.
  • Testers complain about the shape of the stock handlebars and the lack of flare, given the Domane’s capacity for gravel.
  • A reviewer says the SL 6’s Bontrager Paradigm Comp 25 alloy wheels are good, but a bike this expensive should come with better wheels.
  • A 90kg owner complains of endless problems with loose, creaking seatposts due to IsoSpeed. Another owner says their SL6’s rear hub failed after 4 weeks.

Bottom line

Trek's Domane Gen 4 is an endurance road bike available in four builds: two with SRAM's RED (SLR) and two Shimano-equipped builds (SL). Experts have few complaints, praising the possibly unrivaled combination of speed, handling, and comfort. Also potentially unrivaled is the cost, which is very high for this category, even given the performance. SRAM's captive power meters make chainring replacement expensive. Fortunately, much of this bike's excellence is available in the lower-priced Domane SL builds. Ultimately, experts deem the Domane almost perfect for everything from Gran Fondos and sportives to gravel adventures, as long as one can stomach the price.

Trek Domane SLR 7 P1 Review

It’s as fast as some of the best road bikes and as capable as an all-road bike. As much as it pains me to admit it, the Domane could be close to the Holy Grail of one-bike-for-all.

Trek Domane SLR 9 Review: Can a £13K+ Bike Ever Warrant Such a Price?

Given that third-tier groupsets are excellent nowadays, Bontrager’s wheels rarely throw up issues and are backed with extensive warranties, and the SL frameset is only 204g heavier than the SLR, I think that’s where I’d spend my money.

Trek Domane SLR Review

… the Domane is a joy to ride… the only thing holding this bike back is weight…. It’s not a dealbreaker, but I’m left wondering just how much I’d love a Domane that had wide tyres and a light-as-Trek-could-get-it frame.

Trek Domane SLR 9 AXS Gen 4 Review

It’s the right combination of all the things to elevate this bike to the top of the endurance bike class… The Domane SLR 9 AXS is expensive, but the same performance can be had at lower price points.

The new Trek Domane offers many innovations, damping, and high riding comfort. The ride quality: extremely smooth. Unfortunately, the weight and price are quite high.

Bike Test: Trek Domane SLR 7 ‘Gen 4’ – Covering Some of the Basics (Part of a Series)

Trek’s ‘climbing bike’, the Émonda, might be slightly lighter and have other benefits… but, in my appraisal, the new Domane is not just a great bike for all-day comfort. It is, quite simply, a great bike.

The Trek Domane SLR 7 AXS Gen 4 in Review – Head-To-Head in Our All-Road Group Test

… it’s capable of more than just classic all-road riding and turns out to be a great choice for the more adventurous among us. With its… price point and mediocre spec, however, the Domane is neither affordable, nor does it offer great value for money.

Review: Trek Domane SL Road Bike – Quick, Comfortable, & Easy to Recommend

The latest generation Domane SL is every bit as smooth as you’d expect a Domane to be, and an approachable bike too. There’s a reason why it’s a go-to recommendation for most cyclists: the Domane reliably ticks every box for most road cyclists.

2023 Trek Domane SLR Review: A Tauter Ride, but Some Curious Loose Threads

… those other two concerns still give me pause. If Trek can address those as well, I’d happily declare this Domane a winner. But until then, I’d carefully wear the pros and cons before plunking down your wallet on this one.
