More than 2,500 triathletes will take over Philadelphia’s picturesque Fairmount Park and surrounding area for the 2018 Philadelphia Escape Triathlon. This year will mark the 14th year of this annual event, as well as the return of an elite field of professional athletes competing for a $20,000 prize purse. The Philadelphia Escape Triathlon is recognized as one of the premier triathlon festival weekends in the country, featuring two days of activities including a multisport expo, a sprint distance race (8k swim, 25.3k bike and 5k run) and an Olympic distance race (1.5k swim, 40k bike and 10k run). Fairmount Park will host this scenic, challenging course, which takes participants through historic and picturesque sections of Philadelphia, including the iconic Philadelphia Museum of Art “Rocky Steps” made famous as a result from their appearance in the three-time Oscar-winning film Rocky.

The Philadelphia Escape Triathlon will serve as a qualifying race for the 2019 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. The first place male and female finisher in each age group will receive a coveted entry slot into the 2019 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon (entry fee the responsibility of the racer).
