The Black Hills Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned sprint-distance event, that attracts both seasoned competitors as well as beginners. The half mile swim has a wave start, from the beach (north side of dock) and circles around the lake (west side of Holmes Island) and then exits on the south side of the dock.
From there, athletes run up a grassy hill to the transition area, which is located in a covered barn within the Thurston County Fairgrounds, for the bike portion of the race. Once on the bike, athletes will ride out of the park on a 17 mile looped bike course on rural Lacey and Thurston County roads.
Athletes will return to the transition area and then head out for a 5 kilometer looped run which winds through a neighborhood as well as a secluded trail for about a mile in the middle of the run course.
We hope you’ll join us on race day!
