13 reasons not to buy

  • The OutCross is very tall, only fitting riders from 5’10” to 6’6”.
  • With a bowed top-tube, The OutCross’s standover is very tall.
  • The small, battery-operated rear light is disappointing for some owners.
  • Significant chainslap chips paintwork on the OutCross’s unprotected chainstay.
  • There is a slight lag in assist kicking in. One expert described it as “noticeable”.
  • The OutCross comes with a kickstand, which is short and obstructive off-road.
  • At 65.3lb, testers and owners found The OutCross heavy.
  • The OutCross is limited to 20mph, with no easy way to unlock higher speeds.
  • Some experts are disappointed by a lack of fenders.
  • The OutCross’s display can be difficult to read in sunglasses.

  • A tester found the bike’s left-hand throttle placement to be awkward.
  • On real backwoods trails, the OutCross’s mechanical brakes are underpowered.

Bottom line

The OutCross is a fat-tire, 500W e-bike with front suspension. It’s a Class 2 rig that tops out at 20mph, keeping it road-legal. It sports a big frame in one size and will only fit tall riders. The OutCross’s bowed top-tube can be threatening on raucous trails. Due to its geometry, the choice of mechanical brakes and moderate power output, The OutCross is seen as a good choice for rail-trails and plush city use.

Gen3 – Outcross Fat Tire E-bike Non-paid Review

Buy it for the streets, buy it for the rail-trails. Do not buy it for the real trails.

GEN3 OutCross Review – Beautiful Ebike, but How Does It Perform?

About a 30 or 40-mile range. That’s a good range… I do wish this e-bike had a couple of other features like an integrated backlight, a fender and a rear rack but otherwise, it’s a pretty cool bike.
