BikeRide finds and shows you the best prices of the bikes you want to buy. Prices constantly change and it’s impossible to compare them all yourself.

We search for prices on over 120 bike retailers to guarantee that we find the lowest prices – to save you time and money.

It’s a promise we stand behind: If you find a lower price on a bike elsewhere, we will sell it to you for 10% less. For example, if you find a bike for $480 that we have listed at $500, we will offer you to buy it for $432 through BikeRide. The bike must be the same color and size, sold in the US and not include the use of a coupon.

If you find a lower price, email us at [email protected] with documentation of the price. We’re committed to making sure that the cost of a bike does not keep you from cycling!

3 reasons not to buy

  • An expert said this bike was about a foot longer than a standard town bike.
  • On a test-ride, a reviewer found that the Townie’s chain came off too often.

Bottom line

Owners reported that the Townie 7D was a fun, relaxed ride. Electra’s ‘Flat Foot Technology’ allows full leg extension along with the ability to place both feet on the ground, while seated. But this comes at the expense of the bike’s size and results in a longer frame. Owners depicted it as low maintenance and “trouble free” for a geared bike. An expert said the Townie wasn’t excessively heavy, as many cruisers tend to be. The Townie comes across as a great bike for those who choose to cruise. It was also popular with injured riders, cyclists with certain conditions, older riders and those returning to a fitness regimen. As one owner said, “I am old and fat, but this bike makes riding easy.”

This is a bike aimed at people who aren’t going to do a huge amount of riding, and as such it’s fairly low maintenance… Climbing position and chain-shipping niggles aside, this is a fun bike to cruise around on. If you live somewhere with flattish topography and good road surfaces, you shouldn’t have any problems at all.

Electra Townie 7D Cruiser (Flat Foot Technology) The Best Cruiser?

Level 1 expert

Very comfortable bike… you will be able to be sitting and have both feet on the ground. If you’re new to bike riding, you haven’t ridden a bike in a while, you’re older aged… this bike really does give you the opportunity to be on a nice bike… and you can put both feet down without falling.
